Statistics

. Last update on Sunday, January 02, 2005 by the webmaster.

What on Earth is this? Below are some statistics which shows who has done what in the group. As you can see, some of our members have been in the Apa for a very long time, while others have literally just joined. The first set of statistics only show the current members, not the past members, while the following set of stat’s show all members as at Mailing 141.

Depending on how much or how little you contribute, every one can be ranked on the “Dignan apan ranking index” using a “ghodawful formula” ™ which is very VERY complicated, yet is able to judge your ranking based on number of contributions, number of mailing you are a member and number of pages contributed...

The following are different styles of presenting the stats, occasionally, they will be inaccurate due to the Authors work/social commitments. As such, they are sometimes not accurate and should not (in any case) be taken as official.

  A C D E F G H I J K L

 50 * Dan McCarthy	m 129 113 136 780 6.047 1.225 1
 74 * James Dignan	m 106 87 107 683 6.443 2.683 2
 34 * Tim Jones m 12 66 80 652 5.054 3.000 3
 43 * Rex Thompson	m 148 68 72 443 2.993 3.334 4
 89 * Nicholas Smeaton	m 87 76 84 431 4.954 7.266 7
 88 * Andrew Ivamy	m 88 52 69 394.5 4.483 9.950 9
 95 * Simon Greenfield	m 79 55 69 350 4.430 11.619	12
102 * Michael Smeaton	m 68 45 47 367 5.397 13.248	15

In case you missed what was written just above in the first paragraph, the table below shows the progress of all apans as of Mailing 139 (or is that Stew 139??) 8^D

In any case, it was compiled in a table using MS Excel ® Which means that some of the calculations are (probably) a little off at this time (maybe one or two decimal places). If this jogs your memories of bygone days as a member of the Apa, why don’t you send Dan an email and enquire about rejoining.

Notes (As quoted (in part) from the “Great 20 Year Statistical round up”)
  1. Pauline didn’t so much drop from the Apa as gradually fade from sight. So the number of mailings for her in particular is a problem. Similar problems occur whenever apans have joint membership or contributions (eg, )
  2. Camilla: 29 mailings, 6 contributions in 6 mailings, 59 pages. Of these, 13m, 3c in 3m, 35 pp solo. Louis: 16 m, 11c in 9m, 58 pages
  3. Includes one 12pp joint contribution, counted as 6pp per contributor
  4. Pre-combined issues: Felicity 5m, 4c in 4m, 13 pages
  5. “Cath Clark / Dean Randal” was the official listing for three mailings. No contributions
  6. Initially, “Sheryl Hitchens/Richard Scheib” (One mailing, one page contrib)
  7. Xena and Andrew contributed a nine page short story; “Andreas’ introduction”. Simon credited 4 and a half pages each as the pair had stated they had contributed the story in equal proportions

You are person number to visit this page since it was first maintained by Andrew IVAMY.

You can email the editor Dan McCarthy for more information

All statistics on this page were originally compiled by Nigel Rowe (to mailing 60) and James Dignan. (To mailing 120)
Andrew IVAMY added the latest stats for completeness since “The Great 20 year statistical round up.”.
Andrew has “no intention of taking over the compiling of the Apas stat’s”.

  3. Deadlines are January, March, May, July, September and November on the 1st of the month. An extension of minac will be granted to a member if the OE is informed of reasons by letter, phone [or e-mail] before the minac deadline.

(’cause Murray said so).
